Editorial Policy

1. General

“THE MOSCOW UNIVERSITY HERALD”, SERIES 22, TRANSLATION THEORY publishes only original and unpublished texts, in Russian and in other languages (with parallel texts in Russian).

Articles that are already submitted or published elsewhere, either partially, either in totality, are systematically rejected.

Plagiarism is not tolerated and the rejection of the article is automatic at any stage of the process. Manuscripts are submitted by e-mail to vestnik22@mail.ru, in Word (.doc or .rtf) format. A PDF version of the document reflecting layout suggestions and possible font issues is also required (e.g. when special characters are used). 

The anonymous peer reviewed process will start upon receipt of the manuscript.

Articles submitted to “THE MOSCOW UNIVERSITY HERALD”, SERIES 22, TRANSLATION THEORY” as well as book reviews must be carefuly formatted. Unformatted articles will not be considered.

 

2. Instructions for articles

2.1. Style and article heading

a) Document format is LetterUS. Use Times New Roman 12 pt for Normal Text, 14 pt for the main title and 11 pt for special sections.

Margins: — 2,54 x 3,17 см

b) Include the following in the article heading, separated by line breaks: the main title (14 pt, bold, capital letters, centered alignment); the name of the author(s); author affiliations and e-mail addresses (11 pt, italic, left alignment).

c) Provide two 200-word abstracts, one in Russian, the other in English, as well as five Russian keywords and five English keywords. (11 pt) 

2.2. References in the text 

Use the following citation formats: Steiner [Steiner, 1975] shows that … However, according to Livingstone [Livingstone, 1998,  p.45]… Different pages [Steiner, 1975, pp. 2, 4, 18] serial pages [Livingstone, 1998, pp.45-50] may be cited. Use the abbreviation et al. when there are more than two authors: [Stainer, Livingstone et al. 2004].

2.3. Reference section 

The references are in Times New Roman 11 pt fonts and listed alphabetically order by the authors’ family names.

2.4. Other section 

Additional sections appear at the end of the article in the following order: acknowledgements, references, interviews and annexes, with text body in Times New Roman 11 pt. You might use footnotes for detailed comments. You can Microsoft Office Word numbering scheme.

 

3. Peer-review policies

  1. “Moscow University Herald. Series 22. Translation Theory”, publishes scholarly articles on all aspects of translation and interpretation: translation studies (theories of translation), teaching translation, interpretation research, stylistics, comparative terminological studies, computer-assisted translation (machine translation), documentation, etc. 
  2. The Author(s) must provide reliable and authentic results of carried studies and provide the guarantee that the results of the study are truly original, the borrowed fragments are properly cited with the obligatory reference to the author and to the source. 
  3. The manuscript submitted to another journal or published in another journal cannot be submitted to the Journal without special decision of Editorial board. 
  4. The Editorial board’s publication decisions are made based on the data reliability and the scientific value of the work despite the race, gender, nationality, citizenship, social position, religious or political views of the Authors.
  5. The Journal operates a double-blind peer-review policy. All submitted manuscripts are evaluated and suitable manuscripts are sent for peer review.  All reviewers are well-known specialists in corresponding fields of research who have at least three publications in recent years complying with the subject of the paper under review. The following aspects of the manuscript are reviewed: relation to translation and/or interpretation studies, originality and novelty, clarity of main viewpoints, organization of the research and quality of methods, reliability of main conclusions, structure of the paper, compliance of the title with contents of the paper, quality of references, quality of Russian summary, quality of English summary, ethical problems (conflict of interest).
  6. Depending on the results of the review the article may be accepted for publication, rejected, or returned to the author with suggestions for improvement provided by the reviewer.
  7. When taking a decision on publication of a submitted article the Editorial board of “Moscow University Herald. Series 22. Translation Theory” will take into account the scholarly importance of the work under consideration and its compliance with the subject matter of the edition.
  8. The Editors send to authors copies of the reviews or motivated rejection of the manuscripts (upon request).
  9. All manuscripts submitted to “Moscow University Herald. Series 22. Translation Theory” undergo the initial review by the editorial staff for conformance to the requirements on formatting and thematic specialization of the journal
  10. The materials will not be allowed to be published if any reasonable doubt in plagiarism of its content appears.
  11. The articles containing calls for national, ethnical or religious strife will not be accepted for publication.
  12. The Editor and the Publisher will not leave any sentence or claim in regards to manuscripts and publications unattended, and will take all the required efforts to restore the violated rights.
  13. Unpublished materials will not be used for private purposes and will not be transferred to any third parties; the materials will be kept confidential.
  14. After the Editorial board’s accepts an article for publication, the manuscript will be submitted to editing process.
  15. After editing the copy are sent to the author for approval of revisions made to the text.
  16. If the author refuses to make changes to the manuscript requested by the editor or does not respond to the editor for more than 30 days, the article is rejected despite any previous agreements.
  17. The Editors provide an electronic issue of journal with the copy of published article to the author.
  18. The Editors provide constant keeping of the published manuscripts, their availability in printed and electronic format. Reviews, authors’ answers and other materials are kept in the Editorial office for 5 years. Copies of the reviews can be presented upon request from the Ministry of Education and Science of Russian Federation.
